New owners bought this home and needed to make it theirs; a low maintenance home that would fit their family needs as well as their aesthetic and contemporary design interests.

The living area has been defined by a centrally located flue less fireplace cabinet. The open floor plan expands through the accordion style floor-to-ceiling windows, through to a new large deck, creating a larger space to enjoy the beautiful view of the San Juan Islands. The deck mimics the contemporary knife-edged lines of the home.

The design intention for the exterior was to save the lines and update the materials. The existing cedar shingles, siding and wood windows have been replaced with metal siding, windows and roof.

An in-floor heating system, performance insulation and an electronic monitoring system were added to improve the over-all efficiency of the home.
